What We Do
Contemplating the Divine
What is contemplation? According to the Center for Action and Contemplation, “Contemplation is the practice of being fully present—in heart, mind, and body—to what is in a way that allows you to creatively respond and work toward what could be.”
Open Door seeks to normalize and demystify the contemplative life for spiritual seekers, adapting ancient contemplative practices for a modern context. We do this through:
Contemplative practices workshops
Individual and group spiritual direction
Customizable retreats
Contemplative worship experiences
Collaborating with God and Neighbor
Open Door seeks to provide opportunities for collaboration, connection and belonging within the community, for we know that as we grow closer to each other, we grow closer to God.
Strengthening neighborhood networks
Asset-Based Community Development
Co-working opportunities
Detangling Spirituality Cohort
Community gardening and agriculture
Cultivating Communities of Peace and Justice
Contemplation leads us to action on behalf of a hurting world. That is why Open Door promotes social action for a more just and peaceful world.
Participating in local advocacy efforts.
Providing conflict resolution training for individuals, church communities and organizations seeking more peaceful and just outcomes.
Advocating for more just legislation at the local, state, and national levels.
